The Gamma Knife® is a stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS)  device used to treat brain tumors in a minimally invasive manner. The device was invented in 1967 by Swedish neurosurgeon, Lars Leksell. The Gamma Knife principle is based on the focusing of 201 radiation sources, with high accuracy on the brain tumor. Each beam has low intensity and therefore does not affect the tissue through which it passes on its way to the target. For more information, click here.
